Prep Time: Like a day?
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
Bacon
Bourbon
Sweet Vermouth
Bitters
Maraschino Cherries
Lemon Twist
Instructions:
Cook like at least a half-pound of bacon that morning. Set it aside for breakfast or a BLT and then let the pan cool.
Once you can touch the pan without burning your finger, pour about 12 ounces of bourbon into the pan, and then scrape the bottom of the pan with a plastic spatula, freeing up all of the ginders on the bottom.
Grab a funnel, and pour all contents of the pan (using a funnel if neccesary) into a tall tupperware container. Put on the lid and shake it like you mean it. Place this in the freezer. Come back like an hour later, and remove from freezer. All of the fat should be sitting on the top in a solid layer. Remove this and then shake that fucker again. Come back an hour later and remove any last bits of fat.
Now you've got bacon-fat-washed bourbon which is like an amazing thing to have. Use this to make a Manhattan:
Fill a shaker with ice and add add the follwing:
6 dashes of bitters
6 ounces magic bourbon
2 ounces sweet vermouth
Stir until chilled and then pour into two cocktail glasses. Add maraschino cherries. Squeeze the essence of a lemon twist over the surface and you will soon learn experience how bacon and bourbon are the true two tastes that taste great together.
